If modelling for artists sounds intriguing, give some thought to the following questions. There are no right or wrong answers, just some things to think about:

  • Can I sit or stand in one position for 20 minutes (or sometimes more) without moving, flinching, or complaining?
  • Do I understand the limits of my body so I can negotiate poses that work well for me and the artists?
  • What is my comfort level with having my body looked at, studied, and recorded?
  • Will I like to think up poses on my own, or will I like artists to tell me what to pose?
  • Is my work schedule flexible enough to accommodate venue timeframes?
  • Will I take my commitments to assignments as seriously as any work assignments given in other occupations?
  • What is my level of security in situations where I will be asked to be nude?
  • Knowing everyone's comfort levels are different, can I communicate my specific needs appropriately?
  • Am I generally aware of the sensitive nature of artwork in progress and act accordingly?
  • How healthy is my ego, and what is it's role in the artists' venue?
There will be more to think about as you beging to work. Every model's experience of this work is different. If you have specific questions, please feel free to email the address below or contact any model on the home page. If you are ready to work, call any Venue contact and let him or her know you want to work. Be honest that you are new at this. If you try it once and don't like it, that is no problem. It is not for everyone. If it is interesting for a few sessions and that's enough, that's fine, too. Maybe you will find something unexpectedly rewarding in the work and continue for years, which is find, too. Do only what makes you happy and that is in part what makes the artists happy.
